Hi everyone. I'm new here and want to say hello. Can't wait to start reading all these posts and searching for some much needed parts for my 1940 coupe.

Thank you for all the welcomes. My car is a 1940 coupe deluxe that was pretty bad from the quarters down when I bought it. I welded in all new door bottoms, quarter panel patches, and complete floor pans front to back. Car is still all original steel. I'm not a purist and I hot rodded the car. I hope that doesn't offend people. It's pro streeted with narrowed 9" rear end, 21" wide tires and a big block Dodge engine. Engine is a mild 550 horsepower.
I can't post anything in the swap area because it says I need at least 10 posts to do so.

Hey Greg, Welcome to the barn. I like the sound of your hot rod 40. My '48 is also a hot rod and I seem to be welcome here. I have a 355 Olds and a Muncie 4-spd in my car, with front disc brakes and a GM 10 bolt rear. Its a fun car!

Hi Greg, welcome to the forum, I too have hotrodded my '48 merc coupe. I'm getting up in years so mine is built with comfortable driving in mind. it has a bored 302 with an aod trans 4 wheel disc brakes with 4 link rear suspension. I like it here with mostly peers and a huge wealth of experience. tom

It's so nice to hear that there are others like me that like to modify their cars in their own special way. When I first started restoring the car I built a hot '49 8BA flathead for it. Had a full race cam, high compression Offenhauser heads, and an Edelbrock 3 deuce intake, mated up to a C4 automatic transmission. Never got to run that engine though, sold the setup for very good money...lol

Welcome to the Ford Barn. This site is dedicated to stock / restored Fords, with a high level of understanding for period modifications. We are probably going to be helpful with questions about the stock 1940 Ford, like the body and interior. Other websites are probably going to be more helpful when it gets around to the street rodding side of things, like the HAMB (the Ford Barn's sister site that is dedicated to vintage hot rods; many of us belong to both but are much more active on one or the other). Neither site will probably have much expertise on modern pro-street modifications, but you can probably find that help on another site. The internet is a big place, I have confidence that between the various communities you will get your questions answered.

I'm still trying to figure out how to post a photo album..lol I'm a newbie, what can I say.

I think there is a 10 post minimum before all features are active for new members. In order to get to 10 posts some enterprising individuals have posted multiple short messages to tell a story about their car.

Thanks for all the helpful information. I don't have any problems when it comes to the pro street aspect, I used to build race cars and crew chiefed on a nitro funny car for a while. I just want to be around fellow classic car lovers and try to get leads on some missing parts if possible. Little things that are almost impossible to find like windshield garnish moldings, and trunk latch.. and always up for hearing stories about your cars.
