Has any one used the new stromberg 97's that are made in England? If so what is your opinion or I should say results. Especially on the 21 bolt stock flatheads. (I have a 34)
Gary.

I bought 2 from Uncle Max a few yrs ago and after about 6000 mi they are bone dry and are works of art. The after the purchase support is outstanding. I polished mine and the castings are so good they look like chrome.

I have purchased 4 and had good results, two on single carb cars and one in a dual carb configuration. We dont have the luxury of good used cores in abundance down here so they are a good alternative and do the job well.

Have purchased two for a project. But robbed one a primary carb on a three carb y block.
Ran terrible on new 97 stromberg primary carb wouldn't run at all . Fussed around and put second new 97 on and ran great. So pulled first new 97 bowl plugs to find no main jets at all straight out of the box. Obviously someone was asleep on the assembly line. Refitted missing main jets and it fired right up on idle but didn't run on the road ,I need to do further investigation but am pretty certain the emulsion tubes held in by the missing jets
have slipped out of place.
But in saying this our local dealer has offered a replacement.
So they do need main jets.

If you read my book you will see that I tested the FIRST new Stromberg carb that arrived in America from England. It went through dozens of dyno tests to measure the fuel curve and power production, tuning characteristics, etc., etc.. It was bolted on several different vehicles and resided on a daily driven 40 pickup for several months. The performance, appearance, and reliability are all 100 percent. But, it goes beyond that. The level of customer service I have seen and heard about is rare in these times. This includes interaction and conscientious attempts to solve problems created by defective ignition systems. The selection of dealers and authorized warranty centers is a work of art.

I have since had the pleasure of testing several of these new carbs in single and multiple systems and would proudly recommend them.

Bought 3 from Mac and installed 1 as of today. Happen to see one of Uncle Max's threads about a flooding problem. Contacted him and he had me send ALL 3 to him and he took care of the warranty problem and also set up the other 2 for a dual set up. And he took care of the return postage. Did a fantastic job, and HIGHLY recommend anybody whether buying or having them serviced to contact UNCLE MAX. And thanks again for the fast service...... Gordon

I bought two from uncle Max, still haven't drove the car but it idles and looks great. Very pleased so far. Thank you Uncle Max

I have two on an 8BA in my 32 Roadster and 3 on the 265 chebby in my 32 Tudor . They look great and run better. No leaks, no misses, no problems. They don't like dirt tho. Gotta have a good fuel filter. Run the pair right off the stock fuel pump on the Flathead, the trips on the Chevy run off the stock pump too. When the trips kick in ...ah... you know it. Got 3 more on the shelf waiting to go on my baby hemi. OK.......so I like em'

I thank all of you for your input, sounds to me like it will be a good upgrade from the original #48 Stromberg that I have. Thank's again.
Gary.
