This is another example of why we will miss Macs/Eklers/Specialized. They were the supplier manufacturing the reproduction rebuild kits that allowed you to rebuild an original U-Joint.
Brent,
I always appreciate your posts but in this case the last U joint I got that didn't fit was from Macs / Eklers
The U-joint on the left is a Ford original Model "A" U-joint and ...is not rebuildable. The Spicer U-joint in the middle replaced the one on the left for service, it is rebuildable, and it is a far better design. The photo on the right is the rebuild kit for the Spicer U-joint.
Terry, I know that you have probably forgotten more about Model As then I will ever know. That said however, you are rude, condescending, and just plain not a nice person. I know some 8 year olds like that,
Is Brent wrong? "Synchro909" above even mentioned he rebuilt the early, riveted style.
I think correcting the spread of misinformation is better than the perception of one's behavior in a response. The early, riveted style can in fact be rebuilt.
Bob, I really appreciate the good advice that you provide and the fact that you frequently provide pictures and other attachments to help explain what you are trying to convey. Continue to fly with the eagles and don’t let the vultures get you down.
