Hi All,

Just purchased a 41 tudor and have a question please.
Looking to add a sway bar. She needs it!

Can someone please tell me if my pic shows a sway bar
mount or the old shock attachment. Car has been converted
to standard shocks. There's a tube that's about 2 inches long
that's attached to the I beam. A pic of a 41 with a sway bar
would be great.

Thanks,
John

Maybe right side up would help. Something about that shock mount looks strange.

You're right....it looks strange because it is. The "tube" section is originally for the shackle bush that the factory swaybar attaches to. Some clever dude has inserted a bolt or similar to mount the shock to, but it's all set up out of line. I'll have a dig thru Photobucket and find a pic of a stock swaybar ,which is the same for a '40 Deluxe, regards, Colin.

Absolutely correct! That leaf spring looks like it's "flat" worn-out...flat as a pancake. DD

....found 'em....

....and they are not the right shackles, your '41 should have the same shackle plates and bushings as a 1940,shorter than those in the pics.....and yours are also incorrect too. Longer plates can cause the car to wander unless you fit a panhard bar to positively locate the suspension , cheers......

You're right, looks like a Mordrop from the way it's been stretched, plus a flattened out spring to add to the woes. Now might be a good time to pull the frontend out to evaluate what's good and what's not.......

Thanks for the pics and advice from everyone.
In doing research on the net and here something
didn't look right.
This is my first Ford dear I say and oldest car
to date. Sorry for the upside down pic.
It's this stupid IPad.

I don't think that I'll be able to do a sway bar
the auto trans cooler lines are in the way.

Really need to take her to someone that knows
old Fords.

Anyone know of anyone in the Fayetteville/ Raleigh NC area.

Again thanks

John
