New Knock

My ’28 Tudor has developed an engine knock. The engine idles very quietly, and the knock is not present when the engine is at cruise speeds (30 to 45 M.P.H.). It knocks only while accelerating.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Reset your engine to specs
Make sure your not over advancing it, such as getting in and pulling the lever all the way down
I run about 50- 60%
it could also be a mechanical issue

Mitch,

Many thanks. You nailed it. I set the spark lever at about 270 deg. (parallel to the floor) and drove the car about ten miles. The knock disappeared, except on steep hills, where it was just noticeable. I wound up setting the lever about five degrees higher, and had no further knock.

I owe you one.

All the best,

Paul O'Brien
