New guy with Model A Chassis and engine

You got a good buy on the chassis and engine. I bought 3 chassis in the past two years and finally got all the parts off them and cleaned up most everything and put away. This was a few months after I bought a speedster kit. This is the winter project. I have sold off some of the parts and have more to get rid of. One of the frames was no good, the second was an early one and one was a late one. The real jewel was a diamond block engine. I do not know the condition yet. Yes a speedster is the answer. As others have said, you will spend a lot less money if you buy a reasonably good condition sedan.

Looks like a good project. Welcome to the Barn.

Yes you will spend money on this project but you will have fun with this hobby. Like Ray pointed out above, you can spend a lot of money with other hobbies. Pictures show what I started with and the finished product.

Thanks to all for the various ideas and information so far. I like the Speedster idea...that's a possibility, but I like the Hucksters also. Fred Kroon's Huckster (Above) is awesome ! I'll concentrate on the chassis issues for now and watch for a body or cowl section to show up. I just hope I have a re-buildable engine. The engine does turn easily with some compression.

Progress report: I've been removing parts from the frame. I set my Plasma cutter to the lowest setting and carefully cut off the rusty bolt heads and rivets. Then I carefully grind the surface and punch out the fastener. I've been doing welding and fabricating for a long time and I own multiple welders, so the crusty, pitted areas of this frame should be no problem. And it will need several areas repaired. I plan on taking all of the rivets out, so I can separate the frame rails and sandblast and patch or build up weld as the situation requires. It would be easier to buy a repro' frame, but I want to save an old car, not build a "street rod". I'm having fun so far ! Progress report later, Brad.
