Hii Guys, Happy to find this place... Im 22 years and have been into old trucks most of my life... My grandpa owned a few old pickups and cars growing up... He had a 1935 Ford truck, 193? IH pickup and a 1937 Ford car... Growing up I alway wanted to own the 30s pickup trucks... After him passing away in 2001 ( I was 11 at the time) I was told I was able to own one of them... I really wanted 35 Ford.. After a few weeks I went over to my grandma's and toy play with my truck.. Which when I got there was gone :-( I asked my grandma where all the trucks went.. Come to find out she had to sell them to pay bills.. At first I was sad.. Verry much so I didnt even want to be there n thinking bout my grandpa and the trucks... Anyways letts go last year.. I was talking to a techer on mine I had in wood shop ( he and I got along verry well) We got talking about old trucks and he went on to tell me he had two Ford's he was working one.. One a 1948/1949 F1, and a 1950 F3... After a few weeks of thinking bout it.. I called him to ask if I could buy one.. He said you know Ive been thinking I dont need both of them and that if I wanted he would sell me the F1.. I then asked how much ?? He asked me whats scrap was going for at the time I said $200 a ton.. He then saids we have a deal $200 for the truck sounds goods... At first I was thinking no d**m way $200 was a great price... After a week or I got thinking d**m $200 for a truck what did I get myself into... Well I waited for winter to get over.. The day came to go pick up my new truck... I showed up and it was in the drive away... Come to find out, it had all the windows, the doors.. And even motor that was free (inline six) Truck didnt look to bad.. I got thinking $200 for a F1 in this shape with a freed up motor isnt soo bad.. Gives me a lot more cash to buy other things for it.. It has holes in the floor pan( there not all the way gone) bottoms of both doors are gone... cab corners arnt gone and have no rust..... But Ill stop talking now and make with the pics....
Thanks for letting me have a place to hang my hat :D

Hii Ora, I really think if I was to sell it.. I'd part it out as Id make my money back and then some... But For now I think I'll keep it.. Ive seen a lot of trucks and cars in really bad shape and that people have said it should be junked and they turned out really nice.. But for now I'll keep it.. I have the motor fireing... Plus being a college kid money isnt soo easy to come by...

Just enjoy the truck and have fun!! You can always get rid of it, anytime. You can learn a lot with that truck.

Cody,

Good for you, looks a lot better already with that hood aligned. Learn to weld and go to town. Little by little. Keep it up it's a wonderful life.

I say keep it. Lot of work but I didn't see anything that couldn't be fixed. Break it down into small projects, pick one, complete that and congatulate yourself for the accomplishment. Small successes will add up and you can be proud of what you'e done.

I agree with the guys who say to enjoy the truck. Almost anything you do will be an improvement! Lol. Besides, they seem to have personality when they're down and out.
By the way, see if you can latch on to that Farmall "H" I see through the window. (Or is it the "M")
slim

KEEP IT! like what Dave72dt said, it may be alot of work, but in the long run. it will look nice! im only 14, "I" have a 1949 Ford Custom, i must say it's in better shape than yours, butkeep working on it!

gotta get her running and cruise around the yard and like has been said-pick a small project and get it done-couple hours a week will get a lot done and you will have fun doing so- love the Farm Tag!!

Keep in mind that this is your first one. After you start messin with it you're bound to catch Flathead fever:D and you'll want more. F-1's are a lot of fun. Enjoy it. Vic

Hi Vic, I think I already have it  As I looking for more projects... I really would like to find a an old ford p/u for 1930-1940.. Some reason I love trucks from that time frame.... I think its because of looks of the trucks... But I shouldnt really bee looking as I have this project truck and should keep my mind on it and not buy a ton of trucks and work on one oneday and then the next, I'd never gett anything done... But its fun to look at others in the mean time.......

Congrats Cody. You seem by your note to be a visionary and when you jump into a project of this size stay focused and as other fellows here have said, one small step at a time. I saw a sign one time that has always impressed me, it said " A job done right is done forever !" Not always the case but close. If that bad boy was in my yard, I would start by disassembling the entire truck and taking pictures and marking the items as I went along. Strip the chassis all the way down and begin by sand blasting the frame and related suspension parts looking for any bad spots to repair as you go. Get those things primed and painted and you'll feel great to see progress. Its a looooong process from start to finish but your in a great place with very smart guys to advise you along the way as funds become available. Wish you the best of luck. "Lets do this !"

Enjoy your truck, work on it when you can. THere's lots of parts out there for them and don't get discouraged if you hit a bump in the road. I've had my 50 F-1 for 22 years and have gone thru 6+ trucks to get enough parts for it. Many a year it sat waiting for me to work on it. You'll have fun with it. $200 isn't a bad price, up here in N. England, you'll pay more than that! As long as you're happy, who care about what others might think.
