New Front Shocks

I'm installing my newly rebuilt shocks, and finding that the shock links are off set. (not straight up and down) I'm thinking that the arm needs to be bent. Can the link operate correctly or is it at risk of failure? Thanks for any info. I'm not sure how to post a picture on this forum, but can email pictures on PM message. Cheers, Gary C

Is the shock link the proper length? That would possibly throw the geometry off slightly. (I may be skinning my ignorance here.) LOL

I am working on a 1935 Ford fordor sedan. The shocks have a 1/2 inch base plate and a straight arm. I think I solved my own problem today, as I removed the arm of my front shocks, heated them up and put two offsetting bends in them to accommodate the angle. Everything worked out fine. Cheers, Gary C

Gary, the stock front shocks on my '35 fordor sedan have straight arms. No bending of the arms was required for the links to mount correctly. It's possible that you have '36 or later front shocks which do have bends in the arms so that the links will mount in a position similar to '35. I will pm you my email address if you would like to send me picture showing how your shocks, arms and links are mounted.

35 front shocks have straight arms while 36 front schocks have bent arms to make for fit because of a slightly larger(wider) body of the 36 schock.
