New Ford Barn Bugs & Questions

Found a bug crawling around the new Ford Barn? Drag it out into the light and pin it to the wall right here. Or maybe you've just got a question gnawing at your skull. Fire away. Nothing is too strange for this place.

I asked about loading threads reverse chronological, and you suggested using the Filters menu on each forum, but what I actually want is to sort the posts within each thread in reverse chronological order. On vBulletin this view could be set as the default, so that when you open a thread, the most recent post is at the top rather than at the bottom or several pages away. The closest equivalent I found to this is "Jump to new," but that's not quite the same function and requires you to click it every time.

Good question. XenForo doesn’t have a newest-first option for posts inside a thread like vBulletin did, and I’d rather not bolt one on with an add-on since it can break things like post links and the old vB redirects. A few shortcuts that get you close:
  • In the forum thread list, click the date/time of the last post (on the right side) instead of the thread title. That takes you straight to the newest post.
  • Clicking the thread title when you have unread posts will usually drop you at the first post you haven’t seen.
  • “What’s new” (top menu) lists active threads and jumps you to the new stuff.
  • Watching a thread sends alerts that link right to the new reply.
Not quite the same as the old setting, but the last-post link should save you the extra click.

There's one Boss, just kidding

This one is serious, What happened to the 52- 59 social group? it got lost in the new updates. Danny

It's now a sub-forum of the late V8 forum found here:

Minus any stupid political opinions. Hopefully I didn't miss any... I won't be hosting any more social forums. Too much work from a security standpoint.

Is there a digest email setting like vBulletin had? It was nice to get daily digests of the for-sale forums rather than 20 individual emails of someone posting "btt."

No daily digest in XenForo out of the box, unfortunately, but you can cut the noise way down:
  • When you watch a forum (like For Sale), choose “New threads” instead of “New messages.” You’ll get one email when a new ad is posted, and nothing when someone bumps or replies.
  • For a thread you’re watching, XenForo only sends one email per thread until you go back and read it. You won’t get 20 emails for 20 replies.
  • We also changed the Swap Meet so sellers can only bump their own ad once every 3 days, so the “btt” posts should mostly disappear.
If enough people miss the digest, I’ll look into adding one.
