New Classified feature: For Sale. Sold. And How to Tell the Difference.

Something has changed in the Swap Meet, and I’d rather you hear it from me than find out at 2 a.m. squinting at a screen.

Every ad in the For Sale forums now wears a little green tag that says For Sale. When the deal is done, the cash is in your pocket, and the parts are rattling around in some other man’s truck bed, that tag turns red and says Sold. Simple. Honest. A thing of beauty in a world gone strange.

Posting a new ad
Nothing to learn here. Start your ad like always. The For Sale tag is already picked for you, sitting right there next to the title. Leave it alone, write your ad, post it.

When it sells (this is the important part)
  1. Open your ad.
  2. Up near the top of the thread, find the little ⋯ button (three dots). Click it.
  3. Choose For sale.
That’s it. Your ad flips to Sold and gets locked so nobody shows up three weeks later asking “still got it?” You know who you are.

When the deal falls apart
It happens. The buyer’s wife found out, the check bounced, the man simply vanished into the desert. Go back to your ad, hit the same ⋯ menu, choose the same option, and your ad comes back to life as For Sale and opens back up.

What about my old ads?
Any ad with activity in the last six months already has the For Sale tag. Older ads were left alone, because nobody needs a 2009 ad for a set of hubcaps pretending it’s still alive. If you’re reviving an old one and want the tag on it, ask a moderator.

Still true
You can bump your own ad once every three days. No more, no less. The rule stands.

Mark your stuff sold, gentlemen. It’s good manners, it saves everyone time, and it keeps the Swap Meet honest.
