New Battery For The Merc

Finally got to the point I had to replace the big old tractor battery I'd been running in the Merc since 2015. It just would not turn the engine fast enough to start. I went for a more conventional size that fits the battery case and so far it seems plenty adequate to start the car. I believe it is 660 CCA which should be fine as I don't plan to run it in winter much if at all.

In my area it’s getting harder to find 6 volt batteries, the Tractor stores didn’t have the size I needed, and the local NAPA said they would have to special order one. I finally found one in an O’Reillys about 20mi. away.

Not too surprising I guess considering how few six volt vehicles are still in use. I have not had to shop for one in a while but our local Co-op had no problem getting one from their supplier.
