I want to remove the 32 coupe gas tank and I'm down to the horn covers. I removed the 3 bolts that go thru the fender but can not figure how to remove the horn cover. Looking at a picture of a cover there are 2 holes at the top I guess for bolts but see no way to remove them.

Those two holes at the top (one hole on early frame horn covers) are for rubber spacers/anti-squeak unique for that location. With age, they may deteriorate and turn sticky and act like glue and stick to the underside of the rear of the body. Some tugging on the frame horn covers may be required to free them. This assumes that you have also removed the large bolts for the rear bumper brackets, etc.

Yeah, those bumpers can rot. When mine went out in 1960 I had to scratch around to find replacements. Serendipitous trip to a dairy farm in South Dakota revealed that the Delaval milking machines had a rubber part that was a perfect replacement! Now, this is 65 years ago and are they still available? And how would you go about finding them. Best of luck.

Thirdgenauto.com sell reproductions as likely do other dealers. They usually come with the rubber strips that fit on the inner edge of the frame cover to prevent direct contact with the fuel tank.
