Need some help from u Holley 94 carb gurus

Ok I ended up deciding to rebuild my factory 94 carb on my 51 ford.... I got it all apart and cleaned in the ultrasonic cleaner .. I even shined it up a little..

Now here's my issue in the literature hat came with this kit I went to set float height... It calls out for float level to be at 1 11/32

And float drop at 1 7/16

Now if I go by that the float level is actually bigger than the float drop I don't understand ....

Disregard the float drop spec. With the top upside down, the float will have seated the needle valve, you measure up from the surface of the upside down top to the top of the float. That should be the 1 11/32" dimension (MAX). This can vary across the width of the float , so level out the float let to right and take the measurement.

Rolling,
The 1 11/32 float level is about correct......measuring with the air horn inverted and gasket removed, 1 11/32 is 1.343 measured in thousands. Float drop
according to your spec sheet is 1 7/16 or 1.437 measured in thousands, measured
with the air horn in it's normal position. I agree with the float
level spec but feel more comfortable with the drop about 1 1/2. Remember the level
reading is with the air horn inverted and the drop is with the air horn in its normal
position.

I set float leval with top upside down @ 1 7/16" using old-school steel needles [not rubber tipped] float drop with top right side up at needle drop of 1/8" this is not criticle as long as it drops around that measurement. Ive done hundreds of carbs with that measurement.Works for me. Also use leather accelerator pump not rubber. ken ct. OMO:)

The float "drop" measurement can be more important than most of us realize. The float and needle valve can only function properly in a given range of travel without "sticking" in the open (down) position.

Ive used these settings for over 15 yrs and have had only 1 person had to raise up the float a little. BUT heres the reason he wanted to run 80 MPH all day long on the turnpike in a 50 conv.,he will know who he is if he reads this LOL. The lower level stops the minor seapage around the top bowl gasket from the gas sloshing around. The gas will soak right through the paper gasket and eventually on the outside of the gasket. [capillary action] will do it. I guess Charlie and idisagree on this.Only my way of doing these but you can make your own choice,my gasket surfaces are dressed flat. You make your own desicision on what you want to use. LOL ken ct. OMO
