need some advice

Thanks for all the advice guy's! tomorrow after work I will pull the pan and see what it looks like. I will take some pics as well.

I pulled the pan off the new motor this evening! a little surface rust and loose scale, but nothing too bad! I believe I will still take it apart,clean and inspect, then re assemble. can anyone validate the year of this block by the numbers,etc..? I was told it was a 53'??
