Just mocked up my motor last night and the No1 & No2 mains are perfect, No3 is wiped out and has about a 1/16" of clearance and .040 thrust. Can I just get No3 redone or do I do all? How expensive and most of all where do I take it? Hoping to find a person in Westewn New York that does this. I hate to ship it somewhere. If I have to ship who is the most reliable? I would hate to lose a numbers matching block to my car.

It's best to do all so you get a good match. I at times just have done the #3 bottom cap for engines in very good condition. It wears most because the transmission weight. Would also do the rear transmission bearing. You can break a crankshaft if the rear is done and the rest have a lot of wear. Best to do all if you can afford it, or else in the long run you may be in for a more costly breakdown.

I called Mark in Warsaw, he said he is quite busy but will take the block in mid-October. He said the same thing, do all three and check the trans bearing. I am going to have him do the bearings, set the crank and a bore & hone. I will do the rest from there.
Thanks for the advice.

try James Rogers in North Carolina he did my block and what a great job fast turn around

J and M Machine, in Southborough, Ma. would be a good choice. There machine work is perfect, and the boys work on all engines. They are the ones who make the New Model T Transmission drums complete, and way better then Fords were. You can't go wrong. 508-460-0733.

You also have Al Clarke at Go Devil Garage located just outside of Albany, great guy who does great work!
