Need information of 28-29 dated gastanks...

Steve,

Checked the extra tank I have; date on tank 6-14-29, no rienforcement on steering column mount.

The gas tank on A1276 (December 3, 1927) has the rienforcing rib.

Also checked engine number A433206 (September 1928) and it has a 2-3/4" number pad.

My tank bracket has no rib on the front side. The tank is dated 7/11/28.

My E-28 (A3261), a mid-Dec Coupe does have the center reinforcement rib s well as the stamped choke rod support bracket.

Even though you asked about dated gas tanks, I checked my April 28 car and it does not have the rib. Kind of surprised me.

December 1927 with rib
March 1928 (S/N 37,XXX) with rib

No dates on either one.

 

[Special Coupe Frank]

Looked at a '29 Coupe today, tank date 6-7-29, no rib on column support, long choke rod, forged/riveted bracket.
