Need Ideas for Model A Car Games

Our club's annual picnic is coming up soon and I volunteered to help out with some Model A car games. I remember years ago someone had published a little pamphlet on Model A car games. Our club had one of these books butnow no one knows where it is. So it is now living on some previous member's book shelf.

In the past we have done the precision driving and back up contests, blind driver contests, slow driving, timing contests with length of idling after gas shut off, etc.

I was wondering if anyone has a new car game or favorite game that they have done with their groups. Even a fun game idea for the families that doesn't include the Model A's would be appreciated.

I know there are a lot of fun loving guys out there out there in FB land? Please help...

I did one that the model a person and their car was about 50 to 100 feet away from two upright sticks. The driver told the guys with the sticks to move them in until he said stop. The idea was to see who could guess how close they could get through the sticks with out touching them. I won that one. I guessed so close that I had a finger between each fender. Good guessing and Good driving. I think I won a candy bar on that one. Bill

I like that idea!!!! If you don't mind I will use it.

Can you do it with flaming sticks to add some more excitement? Just kidding!

Any other games that anybody can recommend?

Get a half dozen model A's lined up in a straight line. You will need the car owners plus one extra person per car.
Car owners stand about 20 meters away from their cars and are blindfolded. The extra person stands beside the drivers side of the car or sit in the drivers seat.
Get the car owners to turn around on the spot two or three time to disorient them.
When all is set to go get the people standing beside the vehicle to start blowing their horns. Car owners are to find their own cars while blindfolded using only the sound of their own horn to guide them. No verbal communication is aloud. Stand by for lots of laughs and fun.

google the following "model a" car games -online -racing -kids

The quotes search the phrase "model a" the minus symbol excludes the words when searching

Timed parallel parking is good, as is using a toilet plunger as a 'lance' to try to go around a course and spear rings hanging up on the passenger side..

if you have a hill, gravity drag racing is a hoot as well..

We did a "bowling" event. Ten valves were stood up on there heads in a 10 pin pattern. A connecting rod with a piston was hung from the center of the bumper. The drivers had to weave enough to get the piston swinging side to side and then drive over the valves and see how many they could nock down. Not as easy as it sounds.

Stopping on a dime -----put a dime on the ground ---from there you can use several methods ---have passenger direct blindfolded driver, --start on dime lf tire, back in circle try for rr tire, dime might have to be in center of paper plate to see it and to help scoring, or if too easy smaller circle---but should be at least width of tire(no paper showing--perfect score)

Spark plug screwing contest. Have an extra head and time contestants how long it takes to screw in 4 plugs....

I wish to thank the contributors to my plea for help. You guys Rock Old Skool!!!
These ideas should help to make for a fun picnic.

I am also thinking about some sort of game show on Model A knowledge. Topics like on the history of the Model A, identifying parts, trivia on torque and fluid capacities. Are there any written Model A quizzes out there that anyone would care to share? Thank you.

I have the MARC booklet. I understand it was removed because of insurance questions.

Coast is a fun game. Two lines on the ground. As driver reaches the first line he must put the A in neutral and both feet on the floor. Coaster nearest to the second line without crossing it wins. Judge rides on the running board or in the car to preclude cheating.

May pole is hard.

Bean bag toss from the A is fun as is josling. This takes a stand with an arm and a ring hanging from a rope held to the rope by a clothes pin. Drive by and the passenger uses a pool cue to try and spear the ring.

Clothes pin bombing is hard!

Don't forget slow idle.

how about squush? That's backing up trying to squush a paper cup with the back passenger tire.

Here's an exam from the ford mechanics school (I hope it's big enough to see)
(I'm not sure where this came from, but all I have is a paper copy - no digital file)

One thing that we did at our meeting, "Swedish Model A Ford 2011 Gotland" was to point out the bearing to the famous places from where you are. Using a wheel I made this, with 4 swivel arrows you had to guess the direction. See the pictures and hopefully you understand.

Another one is putting various model a items in the stuffing of a pillow. Then, without using your hands, sit on the pillow and figure out what the item is in the pillow by rocking back and forth, etc. items can be spark plug, timing gear side cover, dash panel, etc. depending on your pillow size. Great for laughs.

It is great that you have found new uses for old wheels....

Could you cheat on this by using a GPS??? :p

I invited this game. I called it "I know jack SIT" at Winnsboro a couple years ago.

We have our NCRG coming up next year and I was wondering if I have permission to use some of these games?

For our LADIES DAY car games we have
-driving a short course over bumps with a plastic wine glass filled with water held out the window on a tray by passenger
-Stopping close to a line, then backing close to a line
-picking up potatoes with a nail through a stick

My favorite game: Back into the garage in one try without hitting anything and stop where the overhead door will close without whacking the front bumper. I've been playing this game with the wife for years, and she hasn't won yet.
