Need help with tire pump

I recently picked up a very nice tire pump, part #T-1434, and I am in the process of restoring it. I need to know if the wooden pump handle should be painted black, left natural, or varnished. I would like it to be how Henry did it. Thanks in advance for any information. I would also like to know if there are any correct hose and fittings that can be purchased from a vendor.

All the pumps Ive seen, also photos of, had unpainted handles. They had some type of natural finish, but do not know exactly what.

Would think that the tire pump was painted, including the wood handle, maybe just a slight coat, stain- like on the wood handle, but black. Residue of black paint is found on many original tire pump wood handles.

As for replacement hose and threaded fitting, Lang's has the proper parts to restore, new hose, and if you have the original fitting, use that.
