Need help with rain gutter

Working on a 1929 Murray Body Town Sedan, 155A. The original Rain Gutter was toast after cleaning it up. Had to order the two piece aluminum. Easy to slide together when it is straight. Anybody put this on their car, if so how do you snap it together after you nail the back rail to the body.
Thanks,
Ed

Mitch,
I tried that before I bent one, the channel is so tight it did not want to go together. Did what I should have done in the first place and called Sammy in Arizona and he is shipping me two original steel gutters.
Thanks again for your reply.

When I finished my 155-A 20 years ago, I "made do" with the alum repo gutters because the originals were long gone when I got the car. I must have ruined a 1/4 mile of that stuff before I got a pair bent properly (using conduit bender!) and installed. Still, I was never happy with the appearance. A couple of years ago, I was able to find here on the 'barn a pair of orig Murray rain gutters. They weren't cheap, but they FIT and looked right. Good move on your part, you won't be disappointed.

I bought steel ones from Snyders ($90+ and no instructions). When I was out in Denver, Steve Becker told me to make up a little three piece bending die by making the sides to hold it captive and and the shape at bottom with a bolt to hold the end while you pulled the other end down to form it. Trouble is, That you must overbend the piece and I knew it. So I made the form piece/block a smaller, sharper radius (Yeah, I've got this!) But it wasn't small and sharp enough! It wasn't too bad a bend, both pieces together. But it was too large a radius. OK so I'll heat it ! And heat it I did........ Talk about a real mess! Two pieces, two different bends! One with a twist, one without! (And these two pieces have to fit together? I'm convinced that you need special tooling to make that bend. I've been told to get the one piece aluminum gutters and that's what I'm going to do. I'm a former Tool and Die maker and bending light steel is something I've done before.
