Hi there. I have a '61 Ranchero with a six cylinder motor and can't work out what cubic inch
or year it is. The valve cover has the oil filler cap at the rear so i'm guessing it's maybe
out of a van (?) or some sort of forward control thing. It has a PCV valve rather than a road draught tube.
so I think it's a later model motor. the stamped on engine no. is ' 1C23H 93##1 '
(I've added the '###' to protect my internet security ignorance) Any help would be appreciated.
Even a hint on another website or something. Thanks. CM

If its a factory installed type engine w/ the dist. towards the L/front it probably is a 170 cu in. They also made a 144, 200 & 250 cu in in that style. More of a physical description of it may help identifying it.

Any chance there's still a small aliminum tag bolted to the coil or carb bolt or somewhere on the engine? This will give cu. in. and year, etc. Or if the carb tag is still there, you can learn the year of the carb and engine application from the part number.
