Need help on 32 steering gear

I am replacing the cork seal at the end of the steering gear and I need to know what order the parts go on. In particular the concave metal washer. Does it go on first with the concave in followed by the cork washer, then the gasget, then the metal plate, then the metal end housing with no gasget between the outer side of the plate and the metal housing?
I will attach a photo.
Thanks

With respect, I recommend that you return the cork seal and the concave washer if you bought them as the design of the '32 seal left a lot to be desired even back in 1932 as Ford replaced that arrangement with a thin wall tube that fits into the steering shaft to a length sufficient to be above the level of the lubricant in the steering box. NOS versions of the '33 tube and plate assembly show up here from time to time and perhaps others will chime as where exactly you likely will find one. Combine that assembly with the gasket in your photo and you'll be leak free. (Some take the additional step of soldering the tube to the plate as some are pressed together, although an oil-proof sealer applied around the bottom of the tube where it enters the plate likely would be just as effective.)

DavidG is talking about one of these little guys . If you want one $45 total lower 48 will get you a purdy one . Paypal will get it sent tomorrow if you want . David J:

David,

Thanks for posting the photo as I didn't have one of it on this computer. I do now.

As mentioned above, this is one of the best things you can do to your steering. Might also add a seal to the pitman shaft area.
Having No leaks is real nice.

As noted already no leaks is a good thing . It also lets you use good old SAE 140 in the box .
