Need help identifying a carb and distributor

What does the spark control port attach to? I had though it just connected to the distributor can.

The port shown with the yellow arrow is for the line to the distributor diaphragm. Loadomatic carbs (started in '49) had no spark control valve in the base. In '54 (with the Y-Block V8) they added the spark control valve to help modulate vacuum to the dist. Both will work on a Loadomatic distributor.

Also the carb identification I gave in post #3 is fact, and not a guess. It will also work if the French engine pictured, since it appears to have a Loadomatic distributor.

Thanks for the info. I have plug wires now so I may get brave and hook a battery up to it and see what happens.

I lucked out and found a rebuilt correct generator for it online. Looks brand new.
