I bought a 1962 Thunderbird convertible and the hood latch cable is broken off with about 6 foot of wire on the handle. There is no way to get a vise grip to pull cable as it broke off towards the front latch. How do I get the hood open manually? There are 2 latches one on each side of the hood as I recall. I don't know how to get them popped open as I can reach the center safety latch but not the side ones. Any ideas without destroying anything?

Look from under the front bumper, there is a round bar that goes from side to side and the end of the cable is attached to a lever on it. You can reach it through the grill if I remember correctly as well.
