Need freight suggestions

Fastenal doesn't ship east to west and west to east. I believe the Mississippi River is the dividing line.

I agree and I read the same thing on their website about the regions and thought it was a no-go but spoke with Fastenal directly. Apparently, their shipping capabilities vary by office. I shipped the transmission CA to WI (over Mississippi River). Can’t hurt to call them and ask I guess , worked out for me. 1-855-798-5695 Maybe I got lucky because mom n dad live just over the bridge?

Best of luck.

Good to know

I had someone qoute shipping on some fenders for me from greyhound. seemed pretty reasonable.

Last I knew Greyhound wasn't shipping anymore.
From Mr. Google:
Greyhound will end its package express shipping operations as of September 30, 2022. In conjunction with ending the service, placing an online shipment will not be available past September 15, 2022.

We'll see if this goes as planned, but it looks pretty promising.
I ended up on the YRC website.
I found a coupe body in Idaho. Worked out a price with the owner, he strapped it to a pallet and sent me the dimensions. No doors, my cowl is better.
Supposed to be picked up from his place, and delivered to a YRC location in Pittsburgh. I saved a couple hundred dollars over delivery to the house.
Just under $500, probably less than i would have spent on gas going after it. (Close to 3600 miles round trip.)
I'll post a review after the dust settles.

I have had a couple of things shipped from Texas to Alaska via YRC. The first one went like clockwork, no problems at all. The second time was a nightmare. Took twice as long and cost twice as much as was originally quoted.

That is a good point ….
When you schedule transport with an auto or
freight transport broker instead of dealing
directly with the driver of the truck pulling
the trailer - your “ freight quote “ is not
necessary what you will end up paying.

Re: Need freight suggestions, update

So.
YRC was relatively painless.
They picked it up when scheduled, and it took 9 calender days to get from MT to PA.
$460, as quoted, i picked it up at the terminal.
I bought the rear half of a sport coupe. It was mounted on a pallet, not crated.
From the tracking info, it looks like it switched trailers 5 or 6 times. At some point, they snagged the driver's b-pillar on something, it's no longer vertical.
This shell was going to need some work anyway, so it doesn't really matter to me.

Your experience sums up the Pros & Cons
about indirect commercial drop shipping.
