Need fast idle to keep running

New "A" -needs fast idle to keep running. Please direct me to a post that addresses this issue, or give me some clues about troubleshooting. (For the record, the fuel tank looks clean, gas is new, carb rebuilt by me, timing seems OK and points look new, plugs clean.)
Guidance and direction will be appreciated. Thanks

I'd look first for a vacuum leak (intake manifold to engine, carb to manifold). Then I'd look for a plugged idle jet or passage in the carb.

Another thing to check is the seating of the idle air adjuster screw. If there is gunk or corrosion at the bottom of the carb body threads it may seem like the needle is seating properly (i.e. air passage completely closed) but it really isn't, so it is impossible to get the correct mixture. If this is the problem you will need to use a special jet tap to clean the threads.

I assume you adjusted the GAV on the choke rod? Should be a little bit out when you start and then you should be able to close it. But it depends on your carb as to where it should be set. On my coupe I can turn it all the way in while on the huckster I have to leave it 1/4 turn out.

When you rebuilt the carb I also assume you blew out all the holes in the carb to make sure they were clear? If not like mentioned about, one of them may still be plugged up.

I agree with Jim, did you check the throttle shaft to be sure it was not loose and sucking air around it?
