I am adapting a pair of Granada spindles to fit a 54 Merc for the disc brake set-up. I am looking to: borrow, rent, buy, or swap for a ball joint/ steering arm tapered reamer, to ream the lower ball joint hole of the Granada spindle to fit the 1954 ball joint stud. The same reamer can be used to ream the steering arm hole, to fit the 1954 tie rod end. My thought was maybe someone else has done this swap, and may have the correct reamer. Reamer would have a 1" large dia. tapering to 7/16" small, with a 4&1/2" inch flute length. I suppose it could be a different length, as long as it is 1&1/2"inch taper per foot. ( ps, first time posting, hope I got it right ) Thanks in Advance...:)

Thanks for reply guy`s I have seen the the reamers you spoke about, they are in the neighborhood of $100. new. I only need it to ream two spindles, and was trying to keep cost`s down. I was thinking someone out there may have one of these reamers collecting dust in his tool box, who may consider renting, or selling, ect. I have read on another post about a traveling reamer, (being rented for about $20. ) but just can`t seem to track it down. Thanks again for the reply`s. 54 Merc Wagon

Welcome to the world of old cars. We buy many tools that are only used one or two times and then they go in the "specials" drawer of the tool box. Buy the reamer for $100, use it for your need, and offer it to the next guy for $80. Don't know how the rental thing would work unless you had a deposit for the purchase price for the slow returner or tool abuser.

desotoguy, Thanks for the tip. If any viewers have one of these reamers they would`nt be using, I would appreciate the use of it, for what ever can be negotiated. Thanks Again, 54 Merc Wagon
