Need a source for A pillar mounted mirrors?

I need to replace the side mirrors on a 47 coupe. I know there are cowl versions that will replace the trim piece, and hinge pin mounted types.
I would really like to find a pair that will go where the previous ons were. I do not have the ones that were on here. But here is a photo of where they were.

I think the ones in your picture might be the style that clamps onto the door.
I may have to go with the cowl mounted style, but I’d sure like to not have to fill these holes up.
The mirrors may have even been something that was put on during the 1960s.

Raplh, as others have suggested, whatever mirrors were there, were not Ford OEM. I tend to believe that a pair of stock cowl mounted mirrors would look very nice on your car.
I might suggest you simply plug the holes with appropriate size (black) plastic plugs. They would be rather inconspicuous.

Can anyone with the mirrors that replace the cowl trim; say how the view is out of the right side mirror. Are they made so the head can be replaced with a convex head?

The dia. of the BOB DRAKE mirrors is 4 in. So a 4 in. convex mirror could be installed on right side mirror.
However, I think a smaller dia. (stick on) convex attached to the 4 in. mirror would be better. If possible,
My experience has been that installing a cowl mounted mirror on the pass. side is a waste of time and money as it can't be
viewed by the driver.
The mirror on the driver side works.

Next time you're at a car show ask a car owner if you can sit in his car to check out the mirror views.

i've got a set of those "show" mirrors that replace the trim piece. the driver side one will actually let you see to the left rear. the passsenger side mirror is not even visible from the driver's seat. it is completely hidden by the A pillar. i also have a set of "swan neck" mirrors from somewhere that may work although they will block the vent window if mounted on the door. and i have a peep mirror from bob drake that i couldn't get to mount to much of anything.

you can have them all. just send me a self addressed and prepaid box with packing material in it and i'll return it to you. they, in aggregate, represent a lot of $ and countless hours of misery and frustration. :(

BTW, if you already have a driver's side mirror that works and you're thinking about purchasing a matching passenger's side mirror. here's a test that might prove useful...

sit in the passenger's side and look over to the driver's side mirror (adjust it of course) and see if you can see the left rear fender. if you can, then a matching passenger's side mirror should work well from the driver's side. the geometries involved are (no pun intended) mirror images of one another.

i couldn't find one that did though, so i bought a stick on convex mirror and stuck in on the driver's side mirror (temporarily) and ran my test again, and i COULD see the left rear fender from the passenger's side! so i was set.

and then bought a matching passenger's side mirror to my driver's side mirror and drilled two holes in the passenger door like those in the driver's door and a stuck the 4" convex mirror on top of the 4" matching passenger's side mirror. and voila! i can drive on four lane roads in the left hand lane and not be afraid of changing lanes if and when someone passes me on the right.
