Need '28-'29 Roadster & RPU Info

Good morning all,

I need the location of the tab that the top irons attach to on both the '28-'29 Roadster & Roadster Pickup.

Anyone have this info or feel like taking the time to measure the distance from the back edge of the door to the center of the square hole?

It would be most helpful and greatly appreciated.

On my original 28 roadster, the front edge of the tab is 4 9/16" back from the door opening edge of the quarterpanel. If you need more measurements, I can easily make them. BTW, there should be a slot in the top of the quarterpanel where the tab is located. Maybe you have a Brookville body and it doesn't have the slot cut. Hope this helps.

Below are some photos of my original '28 Roadster Pickup with the measurements you need. It looks like the distance from the door opening to the center of the square hole is about 3-1/4 inches.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the info, I'm working with a 4" stretched Roadster Pickup Cab from Last Refuge Hot Rods but modifying small things to make it appear more original.

It came with some simple mounts for the top already welded on and I was assured that a stock Roadster top would work, however the mounts did not have the square hole for the carriage bolt and rather than making the hole in the existing bracket square I decided to replace them with original type brackets.

This is when I discovered there was a difference of 1/4" in the location of the brackets between left & right side, now that I have original dimensions I at least have a starting point to mock up the new brackets.
