Added some free play. Has about 3/4 inch

And the noise has not returned?

It has not but I think it is a coincidence not connected to the clutch freeplay. I ran the motor with a bare flywheel and the noise was there. My money is on something to do with the starter.

You added free play and now it’s 3/4”?………3/4” is not a lot….if the noise comes back…..adjust it to 1”-1 1/2”…….Mark

Ah, interesting. Would explaining metal shavings and now the noise is gone since the bolts are ground down
