My TT

I am new to the forum, just bought an A but have monkeyed with T's since I was a kid. Here are some pictures of my TT after a 50 year slumber. I picked this up on a Friday night and was driving it around on Sunday.

Here are pictures of the Friday evening I made a deal on it.

This is how is looked about a month after I got it. You can give me crap about the rear cab corners but I had to do something to hold it together. Will be fixed in the future.

I found an old self-dumping dump truck box for it and put it to work hauling out 13 loads of busted up concrete from my old sidewalk. It handled it a lot better than I thought it would. Since then my wife and I have put many miles on this truck just putsing around.

Very Nice looking truck. Nicely assembled, but don't let your head get too big. There is a group of Cannucks that attend the Old Car Festival each year and they can put a running T together in 5 minutes! Looks to me like it took you all weekend!

I like the patch panel and rusty paint...very authentic!

What a great story. Other than what it takes to make it safe and keep it driveable (is driveable a word?) I wouldn't change a thing. And in my opinion that was quite a load of concrete. Wow!!!

I won't let my head get too big. I had to work at it to get it going and it is a work in progress like my other stuff.

Both you and I are close enough to Cannuck land to know that most of them are full of ##it and must be cheating to put one together in 5 minutes.

I apologize to my Cannuck friends that may see this but you are still full of ##it.

S. E. Pete, I see in the 5th photo down your giving assistance to some guy with a newer Chevrolet truck. How far did you have to pull him? If it was me I'd would have just burned it.

garrison,I hate to have that thing sitting in the yard since I am a Ford guy. The only redeeming qualities that Chevrolet has is the fact is has hauled a few old Fords home so I keep it around. It is a cheap hauler. It is the one I hauled this TT home on. It is the only Chev here other than my 31 Chev truck that is so nice I cannot knock the Chevrolet part.

Here is the Chevrolet referenced in my previous post. I am a diehard Ford man but Dad and I could not pass this one up. Had to buy it. Sorry for putting it here.

Pete,
What all did you have to do to wake up the engine in that TT? After 50 years I would think that every valve, piston and ring would be rusted tight! Plus a water jacket full of mouse nests, pee and skeletons.

That Chebby truck is pretty darn neat. But I notice a chain hanging off the front bumper. Just one more you had to pull with that old Ford? And I agree, those cannucks are full of ##it. Eh!

I have never had the pistons out of the TT. I drained the oil, freed up the valves and started it with the starter that was on it. It ran ok but not the best. I gave it a valve job 4 days later and it ran great.

I have since had the pan off and checked and adjusted the rods and mains. That is the only mechanical work done to the engine.

The first time I started it I did have the carburetor and ignition system off another car I have but have repaired the ones for the truck and it is now running with what it came with. Even running with the radiator that came with it after a flush. Holds antifreeze year around and starts year around. The first winter I had it I hauled snow with it for fun.

The chain on the front of the Chevy is for pulling it to the trailer to load it. I could tell you the whole story about the Chev but maybe I shouldn't since this is a Ford forum.

Thanks,
Pete

Hey Pete. U like these steam engines eh? You know anyone over in Crosby?

And I never get that lucky to have an engine be worth having unless I go through it. I do love those ND trucks. A friend of mine got a TT from up there last year. We have SO much fun in the summer. HAVE fun!

fordmand67, I have been going to Crosby the last few years and running a 20 HP Advance steam engine. I do know a few people up there. Last summer I got to take a 31? Buick with a straight 8 for a spin while I was there. Nice car. I am really a tractor and steam engine guy but have a soft spot for cars and trucks. I have restored a steam engine and some tractors, just never finished a car or truck. But I have been collecting them. All of them have been driveable so I am having fun with them the way they are.

Pete
