Just my thoughts on Penrite 1200W lubricant for the steering box...
I have a 1930 Murray Fordor and have had the car for the last 8 months... The 2 tooth steering box has always leaked... A lot... Each morning I look under the car and there is a puddle of 600 wt. oil without fail... It is leaking where the sector housing joins up with the worm gear housing... After reading a number of posts on here about Penrite 1200W, I ordered a bottle from a place in California... Very nice folks to do business with... I opened up the bottom of the steering box and let the remaining 600 wt. oil drain out for a few days...Then closed up the bottom...Raised both front tires up off the ground, and injected the 1200W lubricant into the box, turning the steering wheel back and forth to settle the lube... For the next 9 days, as usual, still a puddle of oil on the floor each morning... On the 10th day the puddle disappeared, and has been gone ever since... Must have been just the remaining 600 wt. oil in the steering box saying goodby to me...
Moral of the story is, if you have a leaking steering box, and don’t want it to leak as much, or not at all, get Penrite 1200W... Kinda pricy, but very well worth it... Just my thoughts...
