My new 1956 Ford Customline 223

Hi there.
After years of chase, money saving and disappointments, I finally managed to buy a roadworthy, road inspected 1956 Ford Customline. Man I’m so thrilled I’m hardly able to sleep! Here’s a short sequence of the trip: Taking my old 1968 Opel to take part on the deal, getting acquainted with Cruella, the 270kms journey back home (sweating due to a carb leak right to the top of the manifolds), and the car at home.
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

Now I need some help: besides other problems, my throttle pedal keeps leaning to the left, because the part that holds the throttle shaft through the firewall is missing. Can anyone show me a picture of this particular throttle shaft-through-firewall setting, or maybe a part of this Ford manual / factory hand book so I can figure out what is missing?
Thanks a lot.

This is a illustration from a Ford truck but should look very similar to the item pictured as 9725.
Nice car. Is this a European model since it has a kph speedometer?

Hey ther guys, thanks for the comments.
Herman, I thank you very much for helping, but it doesnt seem to match with what is in the car. I gotta look at it better later.
From the VIN code (A6EG115398), the car was produced in the Mahwah assembly plant, NJ. the speedometer must have been changed.
Keep it up.

Hi RCM,

Congratulations & greetings from older brother '55 on the continent in Czech Republic.

Take a look at the photo on these two links, specifically for a '56 223.

Be sure to bookmark this website. There is a ton of good information on it, but not the easiest to navigate. Generally I try to start with a part number I know (in your case the accelerator pedal) then narrow it down by year and vehicle type.

Good luck and enjoy!

There should be a bellcrank on the firewall. It links up to another bellcrank on a bracket that bolts to the intake manifold.
I've got both parts but don't have a picture of them.

Nice car. Check the pedal hinge. If worn or broken it will cause the pedal to lean to one side. The rod/lingage just goes through the floor, has no support.

Guys, cant thank you enough. That is a great resource Steve. Didnt know about it. Thanks. and Y-Block, I guess nobody will take me seriously now. That is exactly the problem and I overlooked it, being so focused on something missing on the firewall. My plastic pedal hinge is broken almost all the way through and also the bolts that hold the pedal to the floor are loose. I'll be pestering you guys from now on with more questions.
Keep it up.
