I just found and placed my bid on an auction site for an original first printing of My Life and Work by Henry Ford. I checked ebay and couldnt find any first prints for sale only new ones and a signed one. Does anyone know a rough idea of how much it would be worth. By the way this is the 1922 printing. Really i want it to read and show in my shop office but a price tag to hang on it would be nice.

These are some excerpts from the book... ws

“When Henry Ford decided to produce his famous V-8 motor, he chose to biuld an engine with the entire eight cylinders cast in one block, and instructed his engineers to produce a design for the engine. The design was placed on paper, but the engineers agreed, to a man, that it was simply impossible to cast an eight-cylinder engine-block in one piece.

Ford replied,''Produce it anyway.”

There are tons of First Edition, first printing copies of that book. I have 5 or 6 in my collection and have never paid over $35 for one.

I've been collecting Ford books for 25 years and keep tabs on that aspect of Ford memorabilia.

Al, that's why I didn't mention the site. Luke, that's around what I figured. Honestly I just want to read it.

Well i won the book. Something that kind of agrevates me is i think it was bid up on purpose. The site has bids like ebay were it goes up $1 at a time. It suddenly jumped up to $17.99 at the last minute from the $6.99 i was going to pay so now i got it for $18.99. Either way i look forward to getting the book and reading it and not doing business with that site again.

For future reference, if you just want to read, you can check out Google Books. In this case it is available as a free e book. You can download it and print it if you want. We do this and print a few pages at a time as we read.

Thanks Doug that is a good idea, but there's just something about holding a 1922 book and turning the pages.
