My Hershey Pics

I find that it is cheaper to take as many pictures as possible at Hershey instead of constantly buying things. If my hand is always holding my camera, makes it incredibly difficult to find my wallet. So that is what I did.

I ended up taking over 600 pics between Wednesday and Friday. After looking them over, I have about 500 up on my Photobucket account.

If you look through the pictures you'll be able to tell where my collecting interests lie. You'll also be able to tell which pics were taken on Wednesday (wet, wet, wet).

This was my third Hershey (2007, 2009, 2010) and there were some things that amazed me. Mainly, I have pictures I took in 2007 of things when I was there and then I saw the same items, with the same vendors again in 2009 and 2010. These items were, in my opinion, way too overpriced for what they are, which I guess explains why they are still there.

go ahead and look at them all you like. If you decide to reuse them, please give me some sort of credit for it.

The highlight for me was a chance to get to look over a 1907 Model K touring as well as ride "shotgun" in it twice. A very special thank you to the person who let me ride along. There are two videos on photobucket, one of the Model K engine running with the open valves, the other is a very short video of the Model K chugging up a hill.

I also got into the RM auction Thursday night and was amazed at the low prices that cars were selling for. Seems 2010 is NOT the best time to liquidate a collection.

Here are some of my favorite pictures I took...

Original newspaper, $20.

It was great, as always, to see a lot of old friends. I didn't get to stay too long at the Chili Fest but it was good to see a lot of Fordbarners out for that.

So, that was Hershey 2010 for me.

Thanks

Thanks , you deserve a medal for all those pictures, been 11 years since i have been BUT next year as the other big meet in the world here in NZ has been moved a week due to the world cup, just maybe ill make it again, This year 1st day was good, 2nd wet & cold, 3rd day left . That ALCO truck is about a 1907 vehicle I believe. In 1949 the owner needed $250.00 to pay off the balance on a new Chevrolet. He sold it to collector Henry Austin Clark and drove it from Copake, New York to East Hampton Long Island to collect the money. Most people wouldn't drive a New Chevrolet that far to collect $250.00 today.

The ALCO truck, built by the same company that built "Old Number 16" the ALCO (American Locomotive Company) in Bridgeport, CT that won the 1908 Vanderbilt Cup and is in the Henry Ford at Dearborn, is owned by a fellow I went to High School with who is more a Model T and early Buick collector as well as repairs the antique fire trucks most volunteer companies have around here.

is the tux away the real deal or are they being reproduced?

Supposedly original, the top looks like a modern repro.
