Mike,

I will be at my place shortly after 3:00 pm today, I spoke with Bill last night and he has numerous generators for parts. Lets take a look at yours and see what you are going to need to get it going.

If need be I could loan you a water pump and generator until you get yours repaired.

I opened a big can of worms … oddered a bunch of parts from Snyder... intake and exhaust manifold and im told they would have to be ground / machined to fit on the eng block properly?. Also waiting for the water pump and I went with the alternator. I bought a muffler and everything needed to install it and a bunch of small parts, caps, wires, bolts and emblems.

Also with all my GREAT ideas decided I needed to paint the engine, and started striping the paint on the car .. so I know this is not the correct way and all but how hard and what other cans would I open to take out the engine? And what would any of you recommend me using to take off the paint ?? I don’t have a bead/sand blaster looking into it but that down the road. And I’ve already started it so its too late to listen to anyone you who say don’t do it … lol.. pics too follow ..

any tips would help

I'm not a fan of alternators and I hope the mounting brackets have improved. I've seen several alternators that don't line up.

I thought the paint on your car looked good in the picture in your first posting, so I'm surprized to hear you're stripping it.

I did not want to put an alternator on this car but talking to a few people, common sense sank in... Ill fix up the old generator as so I can say I have it and can pass it on with the car if i ever sell it … as for the paint … it was not as bad looking as it is now .. I used air plane coating stripier on it... man that stuff works good … what a mess..

I need to find a way to close up the manifold holes in the engine, as I want to try and hose it off with water... I’m thinking using modeling clay or some sort of rubber balls … racquet balls ? And one tracking ..

man what was I thinking when I wanted to paint this thing still attached to the car lol… well my first learning experience .. I have decided I am going to tear this car to bolts and cotter pins … after I put the new parts on and hopefully take it to the car show... then after that, tear into it …

Its your car!! Lots of model A's have been took apart and never put back together. To some, it is so much fun takeing a model A apart, Then they realise that they don't know what they are doing and give up. If a minor water pump problem was so vexing, I can only imagine what will happen when the car is reduced to nuts, bolts and cotter pins, You will look around at the piles of parts and see what you have done.

lol .... I will say that but it will all be in fun ...

However I can see people doing that, and altho I've never done anything like this I am really mechanically inclined, and there is so much info on this car out there to really mess it up … beside I have a 3 car garage and a car port that this car can sit in lol … but I do here you and respect your knowledge..
