Hey everybody Im Bryan Im new to the forum I just bought my first hot rod truck to build a 54 ford. She has some issues so Im sure as I go along Ill have plenty of questions for u guys and Ill post my progress. Thanks

No not a memeber yet. I literally picked up the truck a day ago. My buddy had it in Parker AZ and it just sat for years. Most all the bushings are worn out trans leaks pretty bad. It was between this or a 40 ford truck. I just liked the 54 a little more
 
welcome and nice truck there are many suppliers of parts for your 54 do yourself a favor and shop around I love the flip nose you have a wealth of information available here
 
Hey guys Im looking at boxing in the frame rails in the next month or two. All the kits that I find are 1/8" or 3/16". My question is do I gain a lot by adding that extra 1/16"? I plan on eventuially building a nice stroker small block around 500hp
 
I would go with the heavier plate after everything is done and you romp on it the fame twists and you say to yourself I "should have gone with the thicker plate" and have to do it again
 
I agree. Since you're looking to about triple the original horsepower you won't regret more strength in the frame. (and in other parts as well)
