My 56 has a 57 rearend?????

I pulled the axles and the rearend not 56 its a 57 and the seals I got are wrong.Lean something new every day. The engine has a intake that 57 and the carb is later,the dist 57.Whe you buy a car you never know what you are going to find out about it.I wonder what next about this car.Anyway it will be a decent car when I get it done I hope.I have got all the oil leaks fixed so far.Most of it was fittings.This winter I plan on cleaning all the undercoat off the floor pan and frame.That a dirty job.

If it was built very late in the year, they must have run out of 56 rear axles and started the new ones early. I saw that done where I worked once. We put wider rear ends in Rangers for several weeks before the new bodies were started. Its all about keeping that line running.

The other good thing about being 57 is that the rearend is indestructable, and the carb and dist. are a lot easier to work with. The loadamatic dist. is a pain where you sit.
