I thought I would throw some pics of my car up for you guys. when I bought the car it had a flatty that ran but burned a lot of oil. I also went through the complete breaking system.

the day it showed up.

my youngest son saying we can keep it.

and after a few weeks worth of work.

getting new dual exhaust installed.

these two pictures are about a month apart. I lowered it with aerostar springs and blocks in the rear.

I trailered it santa maria California for the west coast customs show memorial day weekend.

not long after the show I picked up a new motor for it well new to me.

then we went on an adventure. I fired the new motor on a Thursday the following Wednesday my buddy and I left sacramento for Spokane wa to meet up with our buddy @chris

And some pics of the trip. it was about 2500 miles round trip in five days.
the day we left.

we made it to bend the first day. and the next day we made Spokane.here are some pics from the run.

then I picked up a canadian grill. and 16 inch 49 wheels. about this time I also blew up the new motor. I broke an oil line and pumped all of the oil from the motor.

this is the feel I am going for with my car. no padded top though of course.

and I just picked up clean 51 bumpers, and deck lid. plus another very clean running 8ba.

and here it is with 6.00/16 firestones.

and that brings us up to date.

Thanks for the great pictures. Kinda nostalgic as it looks just like one I owned in the early 60s, right down to missing trim.

I see that when you got the engine, it had tri-carbs on it. The picture of it in the car shows dual carbs. Any particular reason?

You have a great looking car there. I don't see many 51 Coupes and hope to see more photos of your progress. Sorry to read about the motor and hope the replacement does well for you.

I wanted to run the generator in it's stock spot and I had already bought the Edmunds two pot before I picked up the three carb motor.

thanks this is my first ford flathead powered car and I am really enjoying it.

I think the replacement is going to be great it looks to be very low mileage the guy I bought it from said about 1k.

Super nice car!

thanks! it needs some rust repair but I am really happy so far.

Love them 51's ! On my bucket list .......
I did not care for the 51 as much as the 49-50 when I got it. but I have grown to love the 51 for its one year only stuff.

I have a '51 club coupe. I really like it. Every year, the shoeboxes got better; I feel the '51 is the best of the lot. I always thought the "Single-Spinner" stuff (admittedly designed by "Studebaker Guys"), was kinda' awkward. While I'm at it, I'll say the the two door sedans look like Four doors with the rear door handles removed.

Very nice car you have there. What caught my eye was that unique mobile hydraulic hoist. The older I get , the less I enjoy kneeling down and / or laying underneath a vehicle to work on it. A portable hoist like the one in your photo would sure be nice to work with.

I think that belongs to the guy installing the exhaust system.

I like it. Makes me want to work harder to get my 49 coupe on the road. What size blocks did you use in the rear?

Nice to see more Shoeboxes on here. I drive a '50 Fordor and am working on a '51 Tudor. I hope to end up with a Coupe of one of the three years sometime...... Mark

Nice Ride. Your new grill is 1951 Meteor. In 1949 Ford of Canada created the Meteor so that the Mercury, Lincoln dealers would have a low price car to sell. The Meteor was basically a Ford with a different grill and a few trim upgrades. I have a 51 Meteor club coupe. Do you have a part number for the Aerostar coils? I tried them and only had about 1 inch of suspension travel.
