My 1930 Town Sedan Build

I, for one, congratulate you on your "new" car, and wish you a lot of fun and safe driving. I was 14 when I got my first Model A, a '30 sport coupe for $210, back in 1961. My Dad help me get it back on the road and it was great. I learned a lot about cars with that experience, and I would say to you that you are doing just fine. You have many years ahead of you to redo something you want to, and everything is a lesson learned. Looks like you started with a good solid car and it's looking good. Keep the pictures coming.

Well it's just about fininshed! Finished the interior today, all hand sewn in the basement with fabric from Joann Fabrics.. All that is left is the stripe and some small detail things. Just a little over budget, right around $1200 to get her all back in shape..
I'm wating for dad to take the first ride, he was busy today so i'll have to wait for Monday or Tuesday :-( ..

Here it is! It's about 98% done, just a few small things left to button up. We took it out for the first ride and it went very well, running just a little lean and the timing seems off just a bit. All in all not bad for a car that sat outside under a deck for nearly 30 years.. My next post i'll put some good before and after shots, hard to believe we did it in about 2 months..

Yep, the roof bows are supposed to be curved. My guess is that the curvature helps with the water and drainage of the roof.

I have cut the bows for a 30 TS and a 31 S/W. Both were cut from 7/8" by 3" oak lumber, rough cut at an East Texas Sawmill. Using the old very rotton bows ans the guide i drew and cut the curve with a hand held sabre saw, then cut the notch the same way. Final smoothing and rounding the edges was dne with a belt sander. Drilling the pilot holes in the ends was the easy part.

Somewhere in the attic I have the paper patterns that were drawn from the original bows. Cheap if someone wants them. ken
