mustang 2 front end AND flathead? Possible?

Yes I know this is a stock forum but I’m looking for my next project and it WILL be flathead powered. However, I have come across a project or two that has a mustang 2 front suspension set up for small block whatever’s. Can these be converted back to flathead mounting while using that suspension? I realize this is a pretty wide open question and probably has many factors but I’m wondering if I should straight up ignore these cars or if they are worth perusing. Honestly I’d love an ifs with flathead. Is it possible to?

Anything is possible with enough work.

A Mustang II in something like a '35 is going to fit differently than a MII in a '48.

It you can mount a SBC in it or a SBF in it, you can surely mount a flathead in it. The only potential issue that I can see is with the steering. There are many types of steering boxes and or racks . . . they might conflict with the flathead exhaust and/or oil-pan (which I think is unlikely). But, steering isn't a huge deal to change if you know how to fabricate and have the skills.

Depends on how high you set the motor. Motor at the stock height has interference problems with the stock exhaust manifolds and the top A arm and the oil pan and crossmember interfere so a modified oil pan is needed depending on what year/model you might have to move the flathead back a few inches so the oil pump clears the crossmember.

I had a 51 F1 with the mustang 2 and ended up going with a SBC. The flathead just would not fit with out modifying the firewall
