Moving on - Carburetor options for 239

I have a project vehicle with the mid 50s 239 flatty mounting a FORD Model 59. After sitting for very nearly 35 years I finally started getting it into road worthy condition. This past summer the carb got pulled...dismantled...thoroughly cleaned in carb cleaner and 4 or 5 cans of Schaffers carb cleaner to clear the stubborn passages. Then putting a kit in it. It's been run periodically since then but mostly parked as the current shoes are **** rollers and barely adequate for the odd test drive on the back road in the front of thee property. New ones are forthcoming though.

After suffering SNAFU after...you get the idea...before finally getting the signals to work properly following advice on here, I'm left with tangling with the carb (again). The accelerator pump leaks...had it running yesterday for about a half hour and when I went back out to it today the entire top of the engine was stained. Had put a good dose of MMO into the tank to help a stuck valve free up. I also get poor response from the right hand mix screw. Turned all the way in makes almost no difference while the left hand screw will kill the motor if turned in all the way. Also getting sporadic vacuum drops when tested where it will run fairly steady at just about 20 in the green on the gauge before hiccuping into the red at 15 then recovering.

On top of that the little tab that pokes out from the choke shaft broke off and was forced to carefully braze a new one on which of course destroyed the small spring behind it....now the choke really only works as full on or off...in between is troublesome to say the least.

Am looking to just change it out and have found some good prices on Holley 94s and 91-99s, even the 2100 (I think) and would like some input. I read on here I believe that the 91-99 was found on late 30s pickups. Are the 91-99s okay on mid 50s 239 engines?

Assuming that this is an 8BA and you are running a vacuum port controlled distributor, the carburetor, I believe, should be compatible with the distributor.

If you work with "CharlieNY", you will be in good hands. If you have a "59" carb on a '50's 239, you already have a mish-mash of parts and he's just the guy to help you sort it out.

To the best of my knowledge this Model 59 was already on the engine when everything was originally started in the 60s. Wouldn't be surprised if it isn't original. Will get with Charlie on it.

I rec'd your e mail and will suggest you send me the 59 carb you have on the motor now, I will give you fair credit.....for sure........and build you a Ford carb that will make your motor very happy. The carb will be tested before it leaves my shop.
Check your emails for estimated cost and shipping information.
