Move A By Yourself

David -
Somehow I missed the part about the motor not being in the car. 'Sorry. Poor reading skills or poor reading glasses? Well, if you ever need to move the car WITH the engine in place, you now have a cheap and quick way of doing it. :)

Dave if all you are wanting to do is push that Roadster out into the driveway, and you aren't up to it by yourself, just grab a neighborhood kid or a buddy to help, voila half a minute you are done.

I push ours in and out by myself with the motor in no big sweat, to start it and then when I get back shut it down outside, to put it away.

That garage is all restored w/ heat and A/C, and shares a home with our Golden Retriever, and I don't want him gagging on and smelling car fumes:)

Roadsters only weigh what 2200-2300 pounds?

Your's with no motor would be easy peasy.

If you're getting old be especially careful with what you do. On New Year's day, 2022 my '28 roadster stalled in the driveway in front of the garage. I couldn't get it started so I tried to push it into the garage over the lip in the concrete. I heard a loud bang which sounded like a rifle shot and then felt a severe pain in my right ankle. It turned out that I had ruptured my Achilles tendon. My doctor put me in a large complicated brace and told me that I needed to wear it for 3 months. It turned out that it was only 2 months though.
The problem with the car turned out to be was that the it hadn't been driven for some months and some water had accumulated in the gas. I solved that problem by filling the tank with e-free gas along with some Heet and MMO.

Robert,
Sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience and injury - hope you're back in action soon. Your words of caution are certainly right on target for many of us. Since it took care of the issue on your car, do you suppose applying some Heet & MMO would help your Achilles too? :D

This problem is incredibly easy to solve!. I couldn't get my Model A started and it was in the street in front of my house. The driveway had a slight uphill climb into the garage. I removed the spark plugs, put the car in first gear and used the electric starter. The Model A moved into the garage just like one of those new electric cars, about 50 feet. Ed
