We have used some like that around our farm only we used a paint can inside a 5 gallon bucket instead of a coke bottle. I can assure you it works well!.....and makes a pretty ugly mess!

Drain oil might work better than the used antifreeze that I use. Might not be as tough on skunk kidneys.

It works, before the days of plastic soda bottles, we used beer or soda cans for the middle part, of course that was back before the pull tab days, so you used a church key. But we would punch a hole in the center of the can, and put it on top of a bucket of motor drain oil over a wire rod, and put a smear of p'nut butter on the can.

The advantage of using oil is that it is quite a while before the bodies start to smell...

About 20 years ago I changed oil on my Allis. I drained it into a hog pan and left it in the grainary. After a few months I remembered that I forgot to get rid of the old oil, and when I dumped it out there were about a dozen mouse bodies in it.:)
