Mouse control

If one wants to try mouse traps, many have found that the best mouse trap bait is a "pecan" half.

To mice, this one nut is like delicious smoked bacon to a meat lover at a breakfast bar; and like a squirrel, even if not hungry, mice cannot resist just trying a taste of a peeled pecan.

Next is insuring secure trap bait attachment.

Get some sewing thread, (any kind, any color), & wrap the pecan around the bait bar with sewing thread & tie a couple of knots in the thread whereby the thread slightly cuts into the pecan to secure it to the trap bar so mice cannot steal the bait.

After catching a mouse, if the pecan is still in the trap, good chances are you caught a "Loner".

However, if the pecan is gone & a mouse is in the trap, no doubt his friends came to the wake & celibrated with some holiday food; hence, time to get a new trap & a new pecan half.

Last year, In addition to the traps I put a string of white Christmas lights along the floor at the bottom of the overhead door and left them on all the time. Mice tend to shy away from lights so they don't come in through the cracks on the edges of the doors. My theory at least. Last year I did not have a mouse problem. This year I forgot the lights and the traps picked up 4 mice so far. I think I will get out the lights again.

Two years ago I had a mouse nest under the pickup seat along with Irish Spring and the dryer sheets. I now use moth balls. Don't put them on styrofoam or some plastics. They can melt the container.

Dog:cool: here,
WARNING! When using lushious bait, don't lick your fingers & wash your hands afore' bed time, or them meeces will follow you into bed!!

Here is another type of trap to try. I'm surprised this dd not surface here before this.
Put 2-3" of used antifreeze ( or fresh if you want) in a 5 gal plastic pail. Get a piece of heavy wire about coat-hanger rugged and slide it thru holes you drill 180 degrees apart at the top of the pail. Drill holes for the wire at each end of a soda can and suspend the can on the wire in the pail. Cover the can with peanut butter. Lay a stick at an angle from the floor to the top of the pail where the wire come thru. Mouse comes up the stick across the wire spins on the can and goes for a drink. Ive used it for 3 winters along with the soap, moth flakes and drier sheet processes. Works for me.

Spearmint and peppermint repels mice and will make your car smell great too. Just don't use candy. Go get a plant or some oil and put it in your car.

I found some stuff at Fleet Farm called Cab Fresh, the main thing in it is Balsam. Has a nice smell and seems to keep the mice away.

I use cheap drier sheets put some in the car in the trunk where ever you can put them.
I rent a garage for myself now and put them around the inside of space, and in the spring sweep them up and everything smells great
