mounting Flathead on engine stand

I have a 46-48 engine block I would like to mount on an engine stand I have. The engine stand is one you would purchase from Harbor Freight or Auto Zone, etc.

It has been 30+ years since I last did this so I have forgotten where exactly to bolt the stand to the block.

I remember not feeling comfortable with how I did it last time. I placed a 2 X 4 under the unsupported end of the engine to keep some of the load off the end attached to the engine stand.

Suggestions please.

You should probably get the flattie mount for your engine stand that uses the exhaust port bolt holes - it's not a good idea to bolt it to the bellhousing as it could break off, even with support up front. It's just much stronger to work on the engine using the side mount setup ....

ive made a couple also made a couple for lincoln v-12 also.just take an exhaust manifold to use as a pattern.put a few holes in the neck of it for different postions.

Boy...this is a "blast from the past" thread, and a good one. Thanks Jake for posting and bringing back some memories:D

Admiral.....The block mount adapters that are supplied by "STUMPY" mount to the blocks' exhaust ports, as in the pic BELOW! That then mounts in your regular ol' engine stand. ONLY WAY to go!

If you mount the old way, you can end-up with a broken flathead on the floor!
