Motor runs great unless its cold outside

I have a 1971 Ford f100 with a 360 and a 2 barrel. Completely stock. It runs great when the temperature outside is 60 degrees or warmer. However when its colder then that, it'll fire right up but within a couple minutes its spitting and spuddering like its fouling plugs. If you sit there in park and slowly rev it up it will clean itself out and run great, then within a couple minutes it'll do the exact same thing. If you turn it off let it sit for a couple hours, it'll start up and run great, then start spitting and spuddering again. But again it only does it when the temperature outside is colder. Whats wrong with it ?

Make sure the air cleaner is properly installed and the air hose from the exhaust manifold is connected to the air control inside the air cleaner neck, check for vacuum leaks etc. etc.etc..

Might be carburetor icing, check that all vacuum hoses are hooked up correctly and flapper in air cleaner snorkel is functioning.

It does have a thermostat. I just installed a new one not long ago, so I know its in there.

Thanks for the idea though.

Curious, what blend of gas are you using ?
In other words, are you using a High Alcohol blend ? E-15 or higher blend ?

.

maybe the exhaust crossover in the intake manifold is plugged that will make the carb ice up as well as the hot air duct not being connected
