Here are my old motor mounts:

I just got these replacements from Burt's today.

Mounting plates, the one on the left is from Burt's and the one on the right is from my early 28 and appears to be cast:

I notice there are differences in mounts and plates. Is this due to early late??

I'm wondering why the splits in the metal on the mounts are there? Wouldn't the mounts be stronger without?

You have a mixture of parts, those from you car are ealier than the one you got from Berts. The mounting plate on the left is the later one, the earler one on the right is a forging.

mrtexas,

Yes, the mount on the left is the second style for e-28,the mount on the right is late late. I think 4 styles of mounts, you have 2 & 4, I think.

The plates, the left one is late, the right is early(has ford on it), there is another
that looks early, BUT no Ford.

Somebody on here explained the split was from the manufacturing process. It started out as a big V,and when the squashing was through it was just a slit.
