SOLD SOLDI have been asked several times already what my plans are for my most recent "barn find" stash that included this 31 roadster, a 29 tudor sedan and about three truck loads of parts. Originally I wanted the roadster to build but after getting it home, at 68 I can't really get too fired up about starting ANY long term project. So I will just enjoy my '40 sedan and peddle parts like I do.
Now here are more details about what you really want to know...I got the car from a guy who inherited it when his father passed. It had sat in his fathers garage UN-attended to for the last 25-28 years. Prior to that his dad had started an attempt at restoration, whatever that means? The car is pretty complete and I still may find additional parts to it as I have not even made a dent in bringing home the parts stash. It has a Model A motor and drive train, prolly not the original motor. The guy I got it from said he remembers seeing his dad drive the car. The motor does turn over. I think it will run with fresh gas and some new points but have not tried that yet. It has 5 "new" tires on nicely painted 19" wheels. It does have brakes and turns and steers easily, has the keys in the dash! The odometer shows 84k plus miles.
The body is really nice in my opinion and has had some patch panels in the cowl, maybe others, cant be sure. Doors and door bottoms are great. Floor is great, sub rails in rear look "OK" but may have been worked on. Car has the original front seat frame and cushions, windshield posts and frame and top bows. Worst thing I see missing so far is bumpers. Fenders front and rear, rumble lid, grill shell, hood, and running boards all look great to me. I am not a body man or a Model A expert so my opinion is just that...my opinion. This could be a car with all repro steel parts or nice original parts, I don't know honestly. I welcome any one interested to examine it them selves.
I am working on an Indiana title and my seller is still trying to come up with finding the original. But right now I dont have either. The price is $8500 firm. I can be reached at 574-340-3686 Shipping is buyers responsibility. Have tons of pictures I can e-mail and am willing to take more if necessary.
