I run a "transistorised" ignition system. I buy them as a kit and use them with points. One stipulation is that the condensor needs to be removed. They are dirt cheap, supplied as a kit and you make them up yourself. The one in my roadster has been running reliably now for 15 years.
I ran a pertronix and an aldon amethyst unit last year, but one or other of the units has resulted in a misfire. I retrofitted the points distributor and the home made kit electronic unit and it runs great again.
I really like these type of unit (like the original post) they are simple electronics, not microchip technology.
For example the amethyst unit required suppressed plug leads. The kit built unit and the one mentioned in the original post can run solid core wires. I still have the suppressed leads on my roadster but have solid core on my coupe with the same kit installed.
The kit is made by Velleman, for what it is worth.
