Pretty sad some of you don't "really" get it. Must be because you have a different level of acceptance of quality and have come to except crap (product & service) as good enough. Without someone stepping up and calling out carp we will be eating crap. Oh ****. we already are! I'm with you Kube and your path, please keep moving all that smoke out of the way so we see the truth.

Just curious. When you said "calling out carp":p were you referring to the fish or were you using it to highlight KUBE's rant? :confused:

Check the definitions in Webster’s if you like;
Carp, (verb) To find fault and complain constantly.
Carp, (noun) An edible freshwater fish.
Imagine that...:eek::cool:

Actually I was referring to the mind set of accepting inferior parts as being ok. But I also think it applies to the long winded esoteric crap that defends the willingness of poor business practices and product. Thank you for calling out my error in spelling crap, as for the school lesson it's off topic and I don't really give a ****. Crap or carp it still stinks dude. Kube is correct in every way and I'm behind someone who will call out issues like these and has the stones to call it like he see's it, and not be concerned with the **** that may come with the call.

I just found this over on the Early Ford V8 Club site. Hilarious. And no Vic, I had nothing to with it. I've removed the names of the two guys that posted but anyone so interested can easily go look. I will say, the second response is from a guy that is one very sharp and very experienced fellow.
Can anyone give me the correct ( Ford ) length of the Generator belt length and where is this info available.? "Bob Drake" has a belt listed in his "Spring & Summer Sale" catalog, pg 43. part # 78-8620-C, application,1942-48 Car & Pickup."inside cirumference 50.06" ?? Where is this info coming from?
I purchased this belt as being the correct one and attempted to install it on my 46 Ford Engine. No way.!!
The belt that I took off measured close to 52" and the one that I ended up installing this time was purchased at my local "NAPA" dealer. It measures 53" at my request and fits perfectly.!! Bob says that I'm doing something wrong or that I don't know what I'm doing,his belt is the correct one for this application.
I'm wondering where he is coming up with this dimension as I can not find it anywhere. I would be glad to hear from anyone that knows more about this than Bob and Me.
Thank You,Steve.

The usual reason a stock belt won't fit is due to an incorrect generator. When using a modern belt, be sure the contour and pitch is correct. The old pulleys may not grip the belt securely. I think Drake's people are trained to say that it is correct, and no one else has complained. We have had that problem with them, most recently when their trunk hinges were incorrect. They said my car must not be original. Drake is a pillar of the old Ford hobby, and they need to review their service, in my opinion.

Thanks for the clarification; however, I doubt that anyone accepts inferior parts as being ok!:confused: I would suggest that they go about registering their complaint in a more civil fashion then has been demonstrated in this thread. As far as being esoteric is concerned, would you categorize yourself that way for your continued use of expletives:( in your postings? Being crass and or crude in your post does not necessarily equate to (as you call it) "having stones", it does however tend to diminish any shred of credibility one might have, while demonstrating an apparent inability to adequately express yourself without resorting to offensive language. But you’ve already stated that you “don’t give a s_ _t”. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, as I am. Fortunately, I have not had a negative experience as far as parts received from Bob Drake goes, with the exception of parts being on back order and a set of trunk support arms for our ’47 convertible (which were corrected). I’ve been a BD customer for over 20 years, and I will continue to support BD. If I do get a part that I'm not satisfied with (for whatever reason) I will bring it to his attention with every expectation of a satisfactory resolution.:):cool:

Personally i think Ryan ought to put an end to this 104 long posts and is accomplishing nothing. ken ct. AMEN

KUBE, I found that interesting, it goes to show that people other than you have had problems with a particular part(s) from BD. By the same token, there are many people like myself, that have had good experiences with BD products. I can't specifically address the "belt" situation, as I have never ordered "belts" from BD or any other Ford parts supplier; it’s too easy just to go to the local NAPA, Tractor Supply or other auto parts store to get "belts". To clarify, I don't particularly care if the belt has a Ford or a Gates, etc. logo and part number printed on it.:D:cool:

The topic remains "a bad experience with product and service" not how someone expresses themselves. It's obvious the BD is wrong and will not man up. You are lucky that you have had good luck and that's good. But **** is ****, (or if you prefer poop poop) bad product, unprofessional from a so called leader. I realize that manufactures of repop items have a great commitment in inventory and production costs, lucky for them there seems to be not that much competition. The very fact that it is not addressed after trying to talk to the manufacture would truly piss me off. As for being civil dream on, been doing this for over 40 years that's a bunch of, here it comes "once again" crap! Sadly it obviously doesn't work anymore. My closing statement is one that I read and it hit home pretty clearly " daddy always said if you're brought up on **** you'll crave it".

Gee, now you've really impressed me with your command of the English language and your exemplary communication skills. :rolleyes: I'd stay and play but I've got to go order some parts...:eek::D:cool:

I second the end of this thread, I think every side has been heard and it serves no purpose, please close it Ryan.

JonC & Ken, we are all here expressing our opinions in a relevant matter, as you both have just done! As someone said earlier, if you don't want to read others opinions, skip the thread. I've been enjoying the banter and I support Bob Drake because I have not had the negative experience voiced by others, I think that's only fair.

Just thought I would mention that several of the well known early Ford parts suppliers are selling incorrectly fitting fan belts besides Bob Drake. Maybe they are all coming from the same basic source incorrectly sized and/or marked with the wrong part number.

Vic, it's a bit amusing to me that we are getting these 'highly experienced band wagoners' coming out of the woodwork to jump in here with their carefully worded, fine examples of profanity. It's really making me want to jump on that wagon as well....NOT!! :)
This post has definitely caused me to rethink my approved selection of early Ford V-8 parts vendors/suppliers....so much so to the point that... I just sent a sizable order off to BD from his summer sale catalog. I will use this order to determine my personal opinion on delivery, quality and fit of these parts and may report my findings here on Ford Barn.

I'm with you on this one Vic, now I need to go and look for some nos parts. :)

That sounds like a good plan... By the way,(I know its off topic but) what kind of cigars do you smoke? I'm partial to La Gloria Cubana Series "R" myself. Think I'll go light one up.:cool:

Being in the truck parts business my self, I would hope that if a customer had an issue with a part that was made by us that he would call us directly to remedy the situation. Bashing a company doesn't help. I am sure if you talked to the owner, your issues would be handled in the fastest and best manner possible. I know we do it that way.

YOU need to read this thread from the beginning to get a true understanding of what has transpired. That may have been a good idea BEFORE you weighed in.
It does appears though that you would attempt to do right by your customers.
Now, go back and read this thread and you will clearly see BD was contacted by many.

There was a simular thread on the A forum with a brake cylinder that was advertised as made in the USA and the picture of the cylinder on the website had USA cast in the unit. When the buyer got it in it was not made in the USA after all. The day the owner was notified of the error, he changed the web site. To me, that was proof of an honest mistake made by a vendor.
